Syke! (sp?)

Okay so I lied. Sorry bout that. We’re big time slackers. Please bear in mind the Brooke & Brittany blog will be coming soon(ish). It’s in the works, but we’ve lost motivation in a pretty major way. Again. Every time we get together we tell ourselves we will work on the blog. It will be done. Then we get all caught up in the mishegoss of “play time” and completely forget. Good times though. Good times.

And I have totally been kicking ass in the kitchen lately too, like some kind of dinner-making ninja. I assure you the hubs is frequently blown away by my culinary prowess. I just haven’t taken any pictures is all. And I don’t expect you to take me at my word without the usual accompanying blurry photo under poor lighting that is my modus operandi.

See?

Alright so food photography has obviously been cast aside. One thing I have been doing a lot lately – with gusto – is knitting hats. I am completely hooked on it. All I want to do is knit and drink tea, like some kind of octogenarian (minus the QVC; I usually watch old Kids in the Hall episodes). What’s up with that? I became bored with the normal rectangle shape my knitting skill level had limited me to, so I learned how to knit on the round and make hats. Now I collect knitting stitches like a mo-fo and nothing excites me more than a vibrantly colored peruvian wool, or perhaps a mohair blend. Yes I recognize my problem, but I choose to enjoy it so screw off. I think it’s a combination of the typical laziness and boredom, plus some ridiculously idle hands. Knitting doesn’t require much movement above the forearm, so it’s the perfect activity for my athletic sensibilities.

This was taken a while ago. The pile has grown, and I'm working on multi-colored designs.

I’m happily satisfying my craving to be an old lady before my time, but now I have this huge pile of hats. And I keep adding to it. The husband is starting to notice the storage issue this presents, and has suggested that I sell the hats. So now I must figure out how to go about doing that. Should I try etsy? Or maybe send them to one of my fine local coffeeshops? They always seem to have crappy art for sale, why not my crappy outerwear? The big question is, would anyone actually spend money ($10-ish) on one of these hats? I realize the season is nearing wrongness, so I’m halfway tempted to squirrel them away throughout the house until the weather cools down again. Maybe I should focus on dishtowels and fashion bags until October. But I’m addicted to hats at the moment, and I must exhaust my energies before I can stand to move on. What do you guys think? Does anyone sell crafty shit that might have some advice to bestow?

  1. BTW, I think it's "psych!" Like a psychological trick. But I like "syke,' too.

  3. It's psych, unless you're going for the whole Oliver-Twist-Bill-Sykes thing. And you could definitely, DEFINITELY get more than ten bucks for those hats. Take a look around etsy to get an idea of prices.

  4. Awww, thanks guys. I'll have to get an etsy account set up. So look for "Competitive Knitting" if you want one of those hats.

And yes of course. Psych makes sense. Thank you.
