I am knitpicky

Well I finally decided to join the world of cyberknitters.  I don’t know why I held out for so long.  I regularly read knitting blogs as a source of inspiration and troubleshooting, so you’d think I would want to share my own creations as well.

I’ve had a food blog for a couple years now, which has steadily lost my interest and therefore become a bit of an embarrassment.  I went to culinary school and I spend a lot of time in the kitchen, but I just wasn’t as into it as I thought.  My pictures always turned out crappy; it’s not easy to photograph your dinner with nighttime lighting when all you want to do is eat.  Also, I’m not big on garnishing food I’m about to shovel into my mouth anyway, so there was never anything special to show off.

So knitting.  Knitting is something I absolutely love to do.  My grandmother taught me how to knit when I was young, then I forgot how and re-taught myself once I regained interest.  Makin’ stuff is something I have always been into.  My hobby often changes (wire work, painting, stained glass, sewing, and woodworking have all been cycled through - quilting is on my list for the future), but knitting has remained constant.  I’m still fumbling through sometimes, but figuring out a new way to do something is always exciting.

I have a shop on etsy that I plan on beefing up in the months to come (see link in the sidebar).  I’m not on ravelry yet; I only recently started jotting notes while knitting to create patterns so I’m not sure where that will go.  A large part of this blog is to archive things I’ve done so I can make them again without having to dig through handwritten notes.  I’ll have to see how well I do with that.

I already have a few things ready to post so please stay tuned.
